Phlash Card combines trivia and 5 Card Stud. The object is to answer
trivia questions correctly and win the challenges, in order to build the best poker hand you can. When the time is up… best hand wins.
Hands / Trivia:
Each hand (round) is timed and has a theme for the trivia questions.
- Two, ~ 8 minute hands (rounds)
- One, "Final Draw" hand (if necessary)
- The final 2 minutes of a hand:
Two Minute Frenzy = 10 seconds to answer any and all questions
- Teams designate 1 team captain to answer questions but are allowed to converse about the Q and A
Wagering Cards to Build the Best Poker
Hand:
Teams are dealt 3 cards at the start of
each hand
Teams answer basic questions until they reach 5 cards (they receive one card per correct answer)
Once a team reaches 5 cards they have earned the right to determine how many cards they would like to wager
before each question (with the intent of building the best poker hand). The more cards they wager the tougher the questions.
If a team gets the question right, they receive new cards for the cards they wagered. If they get it wrong, they lose the cards and have to start over answering questions to get back up to 5 cards.
If a team achieves a hand that they want to keep, they can elect to
answer a "hold" question for the right to keep their current hand. To do
so, they must risk two cards. If they get it wrong, the two cards are discarded. The team must then work back up to 5 cards.
If a team is dealt a "Phlash Card":
- The two teams go head-to-head in a physical challenge. The team that wins the challenge will be allowed to choose the exact card they wish to have:
either out of the deck or stolen from the opponents hand
- If the team that lost the challenge has a card stolen, it will be
replaced by the next card from the deck before play continues
- Hand time is stopped for challenges
How to Win a Hand (round):
Once time runs out for that round, the poker hand each team has is the hand the team must play.
If one team has less than five cards at the end of a hand, and the other
team does have five cards, the team with a short hand automatically
loses the hand.
If both teams have less than five cards at the end of a hand, the dealer
will alternately deal a card to each team (starting with the team that
was due to go next) until both teams have five cards, and that will be
the hand the teams must play to determine the winner of the hand.
How to Win the Game:
Teams win the game by having the best poker hand 2 out of 3 times.
If a tie-breaking third hand is required, it is called the "Final Draw".
"Final Draw" (third hand, if necessary):
- Necessary if the teams each win one of the first two rounds
- No trivia or Phlash Cards are involved, strictly a tie-breaking,
final card draw
- A coin toss (called by the team that won the first hand) will
determine which team gets the first card
- The dealer will alternately deal cards to each team until both
teams have five cards each
- The winning poker hand will win "Final Draw" and thus will win

Note about Phlash Card game play for television
programming:
Phlash TV reserves the right to edit or control game play, as needed
for time and entertainment purposes, both for the live and television
program. Certain elements of the game may be pre-planned (i.e.
challenge content, the quantity and location of Phlash Cards, game
running time). The television version of the show may not replicate the
live version of the show in every detail. However, the overall final
outcome of the game will be based on chance, and the ability of each
team to compete in the trivia, poker, and physical challenge elements of
the game.
