You're about to join a vast network of accomplished UW-Green Bay alumni, who once were – and continue to be – fearless dreamers and tenacious leaders, just like you! Graduating is just the first page in the next chapter of your life. Make sure to make the most of it by connecting with resources and getting signed up for commencement.
How to Apply
In order to participate in your commencement ceremony and receive your diploma, you must apply to graduate. After you apply, the option to sign up to participate in commencement will be available. We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible to receive important communication leading up to commencement.
Four Easy Steps
- Log in to SIS.
- From the dropdown menu, select "Other Academics" then "Apply for Graduation."
- Select "Edit Commencement Information" then "Sign Up for Commencement Ceremony."
- After all the fields are complete, click on "Save" at the bottom and then "Graduation Confirmation."
Spring Commencement
- Students whose classes end in May or August (Spring and Summer)
- Deadline to sign up for commencement: April 29
- Takes place in the Kress Events Center
Fall Commencement
- Students whose classes end in December or January (Fall and Winter)
- Deadline to sign up for commencement: Dec. 2
- Takes place in The Weidner
What to Wear
Look and feel your best on Commencement day. Show off your Phoenix Pride through official regalia or sport your honors cords to celebrate academic achievements.
Caps & Gowns
If you plan to participate in your commencement ceremony, you must wear your cap and gown which can be purchased from the Phoenix Bookstore. All caps include the tassel. Master's degree students must also purchase the master's hood.
Honors Cords
Students who meet a certain cumulative grade point average requirement are eligible to wear Honors cords at the commencement ceremony. Students who meet requirements will be notified and can pick up their cords at Grad Bash or at the University Ticketing & Information Center before commencement.
Apparel & Regalia
Approved academic apparel is required for all commencement participants and can be purchased through the Phoenix Bookstore. A number of academic and non-academic groups have approved regalia, such as cords, stoles and pins available for their members to wear at commencement. Grad Bash
Grad Bash is the perfect way to get familiar with commencement! Pick up resources, cap decorating supplies, free food and more. Make a memory at the Photo Booth and invite family and friends to join.

Getting Your Diploma
Your diploma will be mailed to the address you provided in SIS after graduation audits have been completed.
Requesting Transcripts
Transcripts are often needed when applying for jobs. Order both unofficial and official copies through the Registrar.
Graduation Communications
If you signed up for Commencement, you should have received email communications with important next steps and additional information. Look back on emails in case you missed them.
