To Be Formally Accepted Into The Program
Note: All Majors and Minors are required to complete this process.
- Review the faculty expectations and make sure choosing Communication is for you.
- Decide on an appropriate area of emphasis, or see an advisor or the department chair if you are still undecided about an area of emphasis. (Electronic Media, Journalism, Organizational Communication, Photography, or Public Relations) Note: This step will not apply to minors.
- Prepare a current resume.
- Prepare a one-paragraph answer to the following questions: Why do you want to study (Electronic Media, Journalism, Organizational Communication, Photography, or Public Relations)?
- Prepare a brief analysis of your personal communication and intellectual skills (Basic Skills/Competencies). In outline form describe five personal strengths and five areas to develop (one page maximum). The Basic Skills/ Competencies list should be helpful. Also include a "bullet point" about how you plan to monitor your progress. If possible, include a summary of your College Base scores.

- Self Analysis
- Your adviser will provide you any further information and sign the appropriate forms.
