
The Management Information Systems (MIS) team manages the Peoplesoft Student Information System (SIS). SIS is a web-based application that is used by students, faculty, and staff. In SIS, you can register for classes and access class schedules, rosters, advising information, grades, and class information. The SIS database is an Oracle database which is the central source of student information. A central database provides consistent and reliable data.
The MIS team provides support to the administrative departments for reporting, data extractions and special processing in SIS. They are responsible for the integration of SIS to other systems such as Peoplesoft Shared Financials, the EMS event scheduling system, and the Residential Management System (RMS) application, which is used for processing housing applications and room assignments.
The MIS team maintains the Peoplesoft and Oracle software, which includes applying patches and fixes, planning for upgrades, and maintaining data integrity and data security while protecting the privacy of the information.
