Students, Faculty, Staff: Configure your Device for UWGB Wireless Map of Wireless Availability on Campus Wireless FAQs
In addition to 'UWGB Wireless' for faculty, staff, and students, there are several wireless options available to campus visitors. Anyone with a compliant wireless device will detect the presence of three wireless networks on campus:
UWGB Wireless
Students, faculty, and staff should log on to the UWGB Wireless network (configurations) to gain encrypted wireless access to the Internet from their personal laptops or other devices. In addition, sponsored guests may be given temporary use of a campus account that they can use to authenticate to the 'UWGB Wireless' network.
UWGB Guest
The UWGB Guest network provides an unsecured wireless connection that is limited to 512kbps data rates and allows only the http, https, and ntp protocols. Once you have configured 'UWGB Guest' and have opened a browser, you will be presented with a login page where you must enter a valid email address. EDUROAM
EDUROAM is a secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. UW-Green Bay has joined the EDUROAM consortium and supports the EDUROAM wireless network service. This enables faculty, staff, and students to access the wireless network at other participating EDUROAM institutions using their campus network account and password. This also enables network access on the UWGB wireless network to faculty, staff, and students visiting from EDUROAM participating institutions. EDUROAM for UWGB personnel while travelling
If you are a UWGB student, faculty, or staff member and you are traveling to an EDUROAM-enabled institution, you can use your campus account credentials to connect to their EDUROAM wireless network. Access the EDUROAM-US Web site for more information about EDUROAM and to see maps of EDUROAM member institutions.
If your laptop or device detects the EDUROAM wireless network when you are visiting another institution, select EDUROAM. When prompted, enter your UWGB username (including '@uwgb.edu' rather than just your username; i.e. theyerlp@uwgb.edu) and password to connect. It would be a good idea for you to test EDUROAM before you leave by connecting to the local UWGB EDUROAM network.
With the improved ‘ UWGB Wireless’ network, data will now be encrypted as it travels from your device to the wireless access points on campus. Encrypted wireless connections make it more difficult for others to "listen in" on your wireless conversation. In addition, anyone with a device that supports the 802.11n and 802.11a wireless protocols will enjoy faster connectivity.
