Configuring Entourage 2008 on campus


These are the steps for configuring Entourage 2008 ON CAMPUS ONLY. These steps will not work off campus.

1. Log in as the user. Locate Entourage and launch the application. If a wizard pops up, close it.

2. Go to Entourage -> Acount Settings...

3. Select New and choose Exchange...

4. Enter in the full email address and make sure the Exchange box is checked and click the next arrow

5. Keep the User ID option set to Existing IDs and click OK

6. You will get an error about not being able to detect a Free / Busy server. You can ignore this and click the next arrow

7. At the Verify and Complete settings screen you can click the next arrow.

8. Choose Verify My Settings and then click the next arrow

9. Name the account UWGB - Exchange so its clear that this is the campus account and click Finish

10. Go back to Entourage -> Account Settings... and double click on the Exchange account

11. Under the first tab, note the Exchange Server. Click on the Advanced Tab.

12. Enter the same server from the Exchange Server field in as the Public Folders Server. USE THE ONE LISTED FOR THAT USER, NOT THE ONE LISTED IN THE EXAMPLE! Click OK.

13. Go to Tools -> Junk Email Protection...

14. Be sure to set the level to None since spam filtering is handled by our mail servers.

15. Back in Entourage, make sure you collapse the On My Computer mailbox and Expand the UWGB - Exchange mailbox

16. Entourage will now perform its initial sync. This can take 30 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the user's inbox. After that, Entourage will run much more quickly.
