How to REBUILD the OS9 Desktop

Symptoms

Outlook will not print correctly, creating new emails may be difficult, and attachments may not open. If it appears that Outlook is just not working well, rebuilding the OS9 Desktop is the first-line attempt to repair Outlook.

Resolution

Rebuild the OS9 Desktop

1. Close any OS9 applications (including Outlook). Select Apple, System Preferences.
   
   
   
2. Within System Preferences select Classic from the System Group.
   
   
   
3. Select the Advanced tab; then select Rebuild Desktop. Wait several seconds as it rebuilds (watch the blue bar).
   
   
   
4. Select MAC HD and then Rebuild. Close the Classic window and relaunch Outlook.
