Drawing Lines - Toolbar Tips


The easiest way to create a line within your PowerPoint slide or Word document is to use the Line button on the Drawing Toolbar. * While we're talking about creating lines today, there are also icons on the toolbar for creating rectangles, circles and WordArt.

The Drawing Toolbar is usually located at the bottom of your Word or PowerPoint Document. If the toolbar is not displayed, select View, Toolbars, and click on Drawing to activate the toolbar.

To draw a line - select the line button line button and drag out an area on your page. Hold the Shift key down while dragging to make the line less jagged. While the line is selected, you can drag the white squares (sizing handles) to increase or decrease the length of the line.

To add arrows to the ends of your line - select the line by clicking on it, and then select the 'arrow style' button. arrow button

To change the line color - select the line by clicking on it, click the line color button color button and choose the color that you require.

To change the thickness of the line - select the line by clicking on it, click on the line thickness button thickness button and choose the type of line that you require.

The button to the right of the line thickness button, style buttoncan be used to change the style of the line.

To add shading to your line, use the shadow effect button shading button to form shadows from different angles.

Click on the line first to select it, and then click on the shadow effect button.

Use the 3D effect button 3d button to add even more pizzazz to your line!

Click on the object to select it and then choose the 3D look you require. By clicking on the 3D button again you can adjust the object by rotating it, changing the position of the light etc.
