Windows 2000 - Remote Setup for Outlook


Before you proceed with the following instructions, you must have Outlook 2000 installed on your computer.

Note: you must be connected to the Internet through your Internet Service Provider before proceeding.

Section 1

With Outlook 2000 installed, verify it is configured for Corporate/Workgroup:

  1. Open the Outlook application
  2. Select Tools, then Options, from the menu
  3. Select the tab labeled Mail Services
  4. Click Reconfigure Mail Support
  5. Change the option to say Corporate or Workgroup
  6. Save changes by selecting the OK button
  7. Continue to exit by clicking on the Close button
  8. Exit and Close Outlook
  9. Continue to the next section

Section 2

To set up Outlook to connect to UW - Green Bay
  1. Make sure you have exited and closed the Outlook application.
  2. From the windows desktop, select Start, Settings, Control Panel.
  3. Select and Open the Mail icon.
  4. Click on Show Profiles.

    NOTE: At this point, if the Microsoft Outlook Wizard Setup box appears, skip to Step 6; otherwise continue to Step 5.
  5. Select the Add button. The Microsoft Outlook Wizard setup box will appear.
  6. In the first step of the Wizard, select Microsoft Exchange Server and click the Next button.
  7. Screen 2 of the Wizard – Enter your UW-Green Bay campus profile, using your first and last name as it would appear in the campus global address book. Click the Next button.
  8. Screen 3 of the Wizard – Enter the name of the UW-Green Bay Exchange server - MSA.uwgb.edu. enter Move to the Mailbox field and enter your UW-Green Bay user account (e.g. smithb). Click the Next button.
  9. Screen 4 of the Wizard – Do you travel with this computer? Answer No. Click the Next button.
  10. Screen 5 of the Wizard – Click Next.
  11. Select Finish.
  12. Close all open windows and exit all applications.
  13. Connect to the Internet using your Internet Service Provider and open Outlook from the desktop.
