Windows 2000 - Remote Setup for Outlook
Before you proceed with the following instructions, you must have Outlook 2000 installed on your computer.
Note: you must be connected to the Internet through your Internet Service Provider before proceeding.
Section 1
With Outlook 2000 installed, verify it is configured for Corporate/Workgroup:
- Open the Outlook application
- Select Tools, then Options, from the menu
- Select the tab labeled Mail Services
- Click Reconfigure Mail Support
- Change the option to say Corporate or Workgroup
- Save changes by selecting the OK button
- Continue to exit by clicking on the Close button
- Exit and Close Outlook
- Continue to the next section
Section 2
To set up Outlook to connect to UW - Green Bay
- Make sure you have exited and closed the Outlook application.
- From the windows desktop, select Start, Settings, Control Panel.
- Select and Open the Mail icon.
- Click on Show Profiles.
NOTE: At this point, if the Microsoft Outlook Wizard Setup box appears, skip to Step 6; otherwise continue to Step 5.
- Select the Add button. The Microsoft Outlook Wizard setup box will appear.
- In the first step of the Wizard, select Microsoft Exchange Server and click the Next button.
- Screen 2 of the Wizard – Enter your UW-Green Bay campus profile, using your first and last name as it would appear in the campus global address book. Click the Next button.
- Screen 3 of the Wizard – Enter the name of the UW-Green Bay Exchange server - MSA.uwgb.edu. enter Move to the Mailbox field and enter your UW-Green Bay user account (e.g. smithb). Click the Next button.
- Screen 4 of the Wizard – Do you travel with this computer? Answer No. Click the Next button.
- Screen 5 of the Wizard – Click Next.
- Select Finish.
- Close all open windows and exit all applications.
- Connect to the Internet using your Internet Service Provider and open Outlook from the desktop.
