When you open a Microsoft Word document that you have received as an email attachment, Word 2003 automatically presents it to you in Reading Layout view. This view displays your document like the pages of a book. The pages are designed to fit well on your screen — and text is automatically displayed using Microsoft ClearType technology, which makes the document more legible. Here is an example of the Reading Layout view.
When you open a document in Reading Layout view, a Reading Layout toolbar
appears at the top of the screen. To switch from the Reading Layout view
to the normal Word view, click on the toolbar's
Close
button, press Esc, or press ALT-C. To
switch back to the Reading Layout view, press ALT-R
or click on the Standard toolbar's
Read button.
