
Students in this position provide support services in the
main General Computer Access lab. They assist faculty and students
with computer hardware and software related questions. They
also monitor and maintain the physical environment in the
lab, schedule lab reservations, and report computer problems
to the CIT Help Desk. Students employed in this position may be
required to open and close the computer lab. As a result, some
flexibility to work mornings, nights or weekends may be required.
This job is fun and rewarding, and it helps students
build and strengthen both technical and customer service skills. The
rate of pay for this position starts at $8.00 per hour. Pay
increases are given as skills progress.
Students with excellent computer and customer service skills are hired to work at the CIT help desk. The help desk handles phone calls, e-mail questions and walk-ins from staff, faculty and students who are experiencing software or hardware problems. Both Windows and Macintosh computers are supported. Help desk staff also provide on-site service calls to resolve problems as needed. The help desk is normally in operation from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Students working the help desk are also involved in rollouts of campus operating system and applications updates in the summer. Professional staff provide training and mentoring to continuously develop each student's technical and interpersonal skills. The rate of pay for this position starts at $9.00 per hour.
The LTC provides technical support to faculty and staff as it directly pertains to instruction, teaching and learning. This includes all support for all courses using D2L, our campus online course management system, as well as support for web work, digital video and audio development, scanning, and countless other applications. We in the LTC look for innovate technical solutions to instructional challenges.
The LTC hires technically talented students with excellent communication skills and a strong sense of customer service. These students answer questions over the phone and assist faculty and staff who stop by. Students work under the auspices of the LTC professional staff and learn a great deal in this position. Students start at $9.00 per hour. The LTC is normally open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Students with excellent computer and customer service skills are hired to work at the Housing Computer Service Center. This position works exclusively with students in the residence halls and apartments. Individuals applying for this position should have a solid knowledge of operating systems, software applications and utilities (especially anti-virus, anti-spyware & Windows updates), usage of the internet, and network software. A comfort level in working with computer hardware such as NIC’s & printers is also helpful. A common task in this position might be assisting a student clean up a virus-infected machine. This could involve downloading & installing specific patches and software, scanning the computer, and reconnecting to the UW - Green Bay network. The rate of pay for this position starts at $9.00 per hour.
