Computer Labs


There are over 550 Gateway Windows PCs and Macintoshes in computer labs at UW - Green Bay with excellent availability for our students. In general, there are two types of student computer labs -- General Access labs (IS 1129 suite and Library 3rd floor) and specialty labs. The PassPrint accounting system is used for printing in all student labs. In addition, SynchronEyes instructional software can be used by faculty in many labs to view and control student screens.

Faculty wishing to teach in a computer lab should refer to our lab scheduling procedures .

General Access Labs

The main General Access lab is located in Instructional Services 1129 and has 162 Gateway PCs running Windows XP and 40 Macintoshes running OS 10.4. Student consultants are available to provide assistance and maintain equipment in this lab.

The IS General Access lab has three PC classrooms and a Macintosh classroom. IS1129E is a multimedia classroom with video and audio editing hardware and software. In addition, there are four group project rooms with two PCs and multimedia equipment that students can reserve through the lab consultants for group work. Five Macintoshes in a back alcove of the lab are also configured for multimedia production. There are several black & white laser printers, color printers (standard and tabloid), scanners, and special adjustable tables to accommodate wheelchairs. Lab Computer Specifications

A second General Access lab located on the 3rd floor of the library has 50 Gateway PCs, a black & white laser printer, a color printer, a scanner, and a disability workstation. There are also PCs in 10 project rooms on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of the library. Hours for this General Access lab coincide with Library hours.

Students are required to log on to all lab computers using their technology account. Once logged on, they have access to core campus software, numerous instructional applications, their personal network volume (300 MB), course volumes, and network printers.

Faculty wishing to make software available to students can request that CIT install their software in our labs. Please refer to our Software Installation Policy.
