Technology Equipment in MAC Hall Classrooms

The following list describes the technology equipment that is included in all Mary Ann Cofrin Hall technology classrooms. In MAC Hall, a touchpad screen (TPS) located on the instructor's desk is used to control the equipment, lights, sound, and ceiling blinds.

  • A Windows XP networked computer mounted in a technology desk.
  • A rear-projection, sofitt-mounted projector that uses the center screen. This projector displays output from the computer, VCR, document camera and any auxiliary video devices.
  • Permanent screens. Some rooms have three screens; some have two. The LCD projector always projects to the center screen. Slide projection is directed to side screens.
  • A VCR located in the equipment cabinet.
  • A document camera (also referred to as an Elmo electronic overhead). The document camera is capable of displaying printed documents, 3-D objects, transparencies, slides and negatives.
  • A traditional overhead projector that can be displayed on side screens or walls.
  • A slide projector. Some of the rooms support two slide projectors, but most include one that shoots to the screen over the instructor's right shoulder (stage right).
  • Auxiliary Input Plate. Carry-in equipment can be connected to the Auxiliary Input Plate located under the left side of the technology desk. This equipment might include a DVD player, second VCR, etc.
  • Sound system and speakers for all programmed output (videotape, DVD, music CD, etc.) Only the two 120-seat classrooms and distance education rooms currently have voice sound reinforcement systems. We are trying to acquire this for the seven 75-seat classrooms also.

Note : The technology desk has a power switch located on the right hand side of the desk just under the desktop, which supplies power to all devices on the desk. This switch should be left on at all times . In addition, the computer and document camera must be powered on with their own unit switches.
