Discounted Software for Faculty & Staff Home Use

Faculty and staff home use agreements provide rights for instructional and research related activities only.  All software licenses purchased by the department for faculty and staff are the property of the University of Wisconsin System. If you leave the University for any reason, you are required to uninstall the software on your home machine and return any media to your department.

Microsoft Office Products

UW System has negotiated a volume licensing agreement with Microsoft for the University. This agreement provides two options for faculty and staff to run Microsoft applications on their home systems.

  1. The Microsoft contract provides work-at-home rights for permanent faculty and staff who wish to use the software at home for work-related activities only .  Specific information on Microsoft products, pricing, and ordering procedures for UW-Green Bay can be found at

Microsoft Software Purchasing & Home Use Information

It is important to note that no discounted operating system upgrades (Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista) are available for home systems through this home use agreement.

  1. Through the Microsoft Select Agreement, faculty and staff may purchase a perpetual license for applications so that they personally own them and may continue to use them even after they leave the employment of the University. On the WISC site http://wiscsoftware.wisc.edu/wisc/ look for ‘Faculty/Staff Personal Sales’ as the last option in the left-hand column and select Green Bay. Please review the information about the personal sales program and the list of available applications.

Adobe (including former Macromedia) and FileMaker Products

Faculty and staff may use Adobe and FileMaker products on a computer personally owned or leased (such as a home computer or a laptop), if using the products on a computer at work. Home use of these products are to be for work related purposes only. The software may not be used on the home computer at the same time the software on the primary computer is being used.

For Adobe and Filemaker products, your program assistant can purchase the software for your use at home through the Wisconsin Integrated Software Catalog (WISC) site at http://wiscsoftware.wisc.edu/wisc/. Faculty and staff should make a request through their department chair or director.
