Software Discounts for Students

Wisconsin Integrated Software Catalog (WISC)

The Wisconsin Integrated Software Catalog (WISC) enables students throughout the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College Systems to purchase popular software packages from Microsoft, Adobe, FileMaker, Apple, and others at substantial discounts.

The WISC Web site provides a complete list of discounted applications, ordering information, installation instructions, and technical support resources. You must be an enrolled, degree-seeking student at a University of Wisconsin or a Wisconsin Technical College campus to order WISC software. The online ordering system will verify each user for eligibility based upon their campus network logon. Students will be prompted to enter their campus username (i.e. smitag23) and password. This is the same username and password used for email, SIS, and the D2L system. All users must agree to adhere to the various product licensing agreements. You can shop online 24 hours a day. Shipping is free.

To view UW-Green Bay's student home page, technical support areas, and license agreements, select Green Bay from the Students UW System menu found at: http://www.wisc.edu/wisc

Maple Mathematics Software

Maple is an excellent productivity tool for solving mathematical problems and creating interactive technical documents.  Maple is considered the most powerful and easiest-to-use mathematical tool on the market.  While Maple is installed on Windows PCs in all general access and teaching labs, students may also purchase it for home use for $65.   To purchase Maple, go to http://webstore.maplesoft.com, select your Category (STUDENT), your Location (USA), and enter the campus Promotion Code (distributed to all students in an email on Software Discounts -- call the Help Desk at 465-2309 if you need assistance with this.)

Statistical Software - SPSS & SAS

Under UW-Green Bay's current licensing agreement, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) and SAS (Statistical Analysis System) may be purchased by registered students for their home computers. The Phoenix Bookstore sells SAS for Windows for $21.35, and SPSS for $8.99. Installation instructions are included.

When purchasing either package, you will be asked to present your UW-Green Bay identification to verify your eligibility. When purchasing SAS, you must also sign a statement of agreement. Since our SAS license is renewed on an annual basis, you will have to apply a SETINIT to your software each summer to continue using SAS. CIT will maintain a list of individuals who have purchased SAS and will email the SETINIT files to them each summer with instructions.

The modules included in the SPSS program are Base, Advanced, Regression, and Tables. The modules included in the SAS program are Base SAS, SAS/AF, SAS/ACCESS, SAS/ASSIST, SAS/CALC, SAS/CONNECT, SAS/EIS, SAS/ETC, SAS/FSP, SAS/GIS, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/IML, SAS/INSIGHT, SAS/LAB, SAS/OR, SAS/QC, SAS/SHARE, SAS/SPECTRAVIEW, SAS/STAT, and SAS/ OnlineTutor.
