Theresa Weise

Theresa began her career at UWGB in spring 2014. Theresa provides individual counseling to students and staff for a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, eating concerns, LGBTQ, relational concerns, AODA (drugs and alcohol) concerns, self-esteem and trauma. She also performs AODA assessments and AODA education.

Theresa earned a Bachelor’s degree from Lakeland College in Marketing and later returned for a Master’s degree in Counseling. Upon completion of her Master’s degree, she completed necessary requirements for her Clinical Substance Abuse Certification.

The majority of Theresa’s almost 11 years of counseling experience has been in working with individuals struggling with drug and alcohol concerns but she also has worked as a crisis center worker, sexual assault advocate, family and couples counselor and group counseling facilitator.

Theresa primary uses Client Centered, Motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy counseling methods but also includes mindfulness and hope.

During her minimal free time you can find Theresa enjoying time spent with her wife and four year old daughter. Her other interests include photography, nature, reading, self-discovery, traveling and current events.
