Pregnancy Testing
Pregnancy testing should be performed when a woman notices symptoms of
pregnancy which include a missed period, nausea, breast
tenderness and fatigue.
Additionally, some women are required to have pregnancy
testing when they will be taking or are currently taking certain
medications.
Pregnancy can be diagnosed with urine or blood tests.
Urine tests can be performed at home or in the doctor’s
office. If you are
doing a home pregnancy test, follow the product directions
carefully to assure accuracy of the result.
If the pregnancy test is positive,
you should see a healthcare provider so that pregnancy may be
confirmed with clinical testing.
Once pregnancy is confirmed, you will have the
opportunity to discuss available options so that you may make
informed decisions about the pregnancy and prenatal care.
If your pregnancy test is
negative and you do not want to become pregnant, you may
want to consider learning more about Family Planning Options
such as birth control pills, IUDs, barrier methods or
abstinence.
If your pregnancy test is
negative and you are trying to become pregnant, maintain a
healthy diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and any other substance
that may be harmful to fetal development.
If you have not already done so, you may want to talk to
your primary health care provider about how you can prepare for
a healthy pregnancy.
Pregnancy testing does require a small
fee, see our
Fee Schedule.
Fees are subject to change.
