What is Title IX
“No person in the Unites States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 Implementing Regulations at: 20 U.S.C. §1681 & 34 C.F. R. Part 106

Title IX Coordinators & Investigators
To assist in following all the requirements of Title IX, UWGB has identified individuals to receive complaints of gender based harassment, discrimination or violence.  These individuals are responsible for taking immediate and effective steps to respond to this behavior.     Those individuals are:

How to Report
If you feel you have been the complainant of gender based harassment, discrimination or violence, you have the right to file a complaint with one of the Title IX Coordinators or their deputies.   When an individual files a complaint, initial information is collected about the behavior.   The complainant making the complaint will be provided information about resources available both on and off campus.   The act of making a complaint by itself does not mean action will be taken against individuals.  In most cases, the complainant requests action is taken, but if the situation is perceived to be a larger risk to the campus, the investigators may initiate some form of disciplinary action to protect the campus even if the complainant has not requested that action.

Investigation Process
Once a complaint is made and the complainant is informed of the rights and resources available to her or him, an investigator will be assigned to the incident.   Female and male investigators are available if requested.   The investigator will explain the process in more detail and answer any questions the complainant may have.  If a second investigation is being done by UWGB Public Safety, efforts will be made to reduce the number of meetings, contacts and interviews between the two departments.   After the initial investigative interview, the investigator will discuss next steps so the complainant is aware of how the process will move forward and the approximate timeline.

Prevention of Retaliation
When a complaint is filed, the Title IX Coordinator will explain options available to assist in preventing retaliation either by the alleged offender, or supporters of the offender.   This may include issuing no contact orders, adjusting class or work schedules, temporary living or work accommodations or a temporary restriction from entering campus.  The appropriate measures will be chosen based on the nature of the behavior.   The purpose of such measures are to prevent future incidents from occurring and avoid actions which could be disruptive to the investigation.
