Recent changes to the Design Arts curriculum include the addition of Design 131, Introduction to Design Arts as a replacement for Design 231, Introduction to Graphic Communications. Students wanting to enroll in Design 331, Design Arts Studio I in the Fall semester 2009 can do so even if they have not completed Design 131, but you will need to obtain a waiver from the program advisor or the course instructor. Only students who have completed Art 106, Two Dimensional Design and Art 107, Design Methods will be waived into the course.
A section of Design 331 will also be offered in the Spring 2010 semester, to accommodate students who were unable to meet requirements in the fall semester.
English 324, Practicum in Literary Publishing is now offered as another option in the Applied section of the Design Arts Program. The course publishes the Sheepshead Review literary magazine and is an excellent opportunity to gain publication experience and add a high quality print sample to your portfolio. Design 332, Studio II should be completed prior to enrolling in the course.
