Becoming a Dietitian

In general, to become a Dietitian, one needs to complete one of the following pathways:

  1. Attend a CADE accredited 4-year university and complete the mandatory course work. Upon completion of the didactic    portion, complete a CADE accredited Dietetic Internship.

  2. Attend a CADE accredited coordinated program at a 4-year university. This entails both the course work (didactic) and the required experience (internship).

Upon completion of one of the pervious programs, you will be eligible to take the R.D. exam; you must pass this exam to obtain your R.D. credentials.

There are also multiple possibilities for obtaining an advanced degree in nutrition/dietetics. These advanced degrees DO NOT require an R.D. but also DO NOT qualify one for taking the R.D. exam (the internship MUST be completed)
