The weather was too unsettled to go anywhere, so we stayed in the camp area.
|Since the glacier hike on the 15th went so smoothly, we thought we'd hike over the glaciers to The Spit. On a nice day it would have worked, but up on the glacier it was white-out. We weren't that concerned about freezing (it wasn't very cold) or getting lost (it's a small island), but it was way too easy to fall off of or into something with this poor visibility. So we wrote it off.|
By now we had noticed that the south side of the island took the pounding from waves, so we decided to move a Zodiac to the north shore at Pebble Beach. As radio man, I stayed behind while the others took a Zodiac to the Spit, lugged it across, then brought it around to Pebble Beach. It was a wet trip for them, but it turned out to be an excellent move.
