Kepler's Second Law states that the line from the sun to a planet sweeps out equal areas in equal times. The diagram below illustrates the law. Input the eccentricity of the orbit (small values are nearly circular orbits, large values are very elongated). The ellipse will be divided into sectors of equal area.
Kepler's Second Law is a direct consequence of the conservation of angular momentum.
