Carson Pass is on California 88. The highway runs northeast from Jackson over the pass then connects to several routes to Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Ebbets Pass.
|Markleeville is the county seat of Alpine County, the least populous county in California. I used to think of this as the most inaccessible part of California and it is - from California - but it's at risk of being invaded by urban sprawl from Reno and Carson City.|
|North of Markleeville are road cuts through lahar deposits.|
