0093D - Educator Effectiveness: The Key to Improving Student Learning

This course is open to Sheboygan Area School District administrators.

Course Description:

This course is designed to enhance the professional knowledge and practice of principals and other administrators who supervise and evaluate teachers in order to ensure that each child has a highly qualified and effective teacher to guide their learning. Major course topics include:
  • Learning about the Wisconsin Educator Effectiveness Model
  • Developing a common framework for defining and observing effective instruction
  • Acquiring and/or refining the skills needed to conduct fair and reliable observations with fidelity
  • Using technology tools to collect, measure, and analyze teacher performance data
  • Learning, practicing, and implementing strategies for engaging in professional conversations with teachers about their performance

  • Prerequisite: Graduate Standing (Must have earned a bachelor’s degree); must be an administrator in the Sheboygan Area School District and approved by Seth Harvatine, SASD Director of Instructional Services – sharvatine@sheboygan.k12.wi.us

  • Schedule: This course will take place from August 2013 to May 2014 and will transcend the Summer 2013, Fall 2013, and Spring 2014 semesters. This is considered a Summer 2013 course for fee and grade reporting purposes due to the course’s start date.

    In addition to these scheduled meeting dates, course participants/school administrators will be conducting observations of teachers instructing students and completing the certification assessment available from Teachscape Focus.
