0109D - Differentiation: Meeting the Needs of All Learners

This course is open to all third-year teachers in the School District of West De Pere.

Course Description:

This course is designed to assist participants in developing their understanding of differentiated instruction. They will explore characteristics and key elements of differentiated instruction, as well as beliefs that guide differentiated instruction. Participants will learn how differentiated classrooms differ from traditional classrooms, and will receive practical ideas to use with their own students.

  • Course Number: ED & HUD 795-9, section 7403 (#0109D)

  • Prerequisite: Graduate Standing (Must have earned a bachelor’s degree); must be a third-year teacher in the School District of West De Pere. Others interested in enrolling need to contact Amy LaPierre at or 920-337-1393, extension 8029.

  • Schedule: Tuesday, October 22, 2013 (3:45-5:00 p.m.); and Tuesdays, January 28 and April 29, 2014 (3:45-5:00 p.m.). Choose from one of the following workshops – October 2, November 6, December 11, 2013; January 22, February 19, March 5, or April 23, 2014 (4:00-6:00 p.m.). Requirements also include active participation in the online discussion forum, every-other-month meetings with your mentor (scheduled at mutually agreed upon times), written reflection of a videotaped lesson discussed with your mentor, and observation in your mentor’s classroom or in other model classrooms. All assignments for this course will be completed by May 1, 2014.
    (The official course start and end dates for fee and grade reporting purposes are October 22, 2013 to May 20, 2014.)
