0955C/CU - Play-Based Early Learning: Creating Child-Centered Environments

This course is being offered in conjunction with the Play-Based Early Learning Conference held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Kimberly, Wisconsin.

Course Description:

Develop an understanding for play-based and child-centered curriculums in early childhood settings! Create activities that are both developmentally appropriate and learning appropriate with an emphasis on the child and play. Engage with fellow early childhood educators and providers to discuss current best practices for creating engaging early childhood settings. This course includes attendance at the April 21st conference in Kimberly, as well as an online component via the course wiki. This credit course begins online via the course wiki on April 14, which is one week prior to the conference. Those interested in earning credit must register with UW-Green Bay no later than March 20th. For more detailed information, please be sure to click on the course syllabus link below.

  • Prerequisite: Graduate Standing (Must have earned a bachelor’s degree); must have computer and Internet access to participate in the online wiki component of this course.

  • Schedule: This course begins online via the course wiki on Saturday, April 14 and ends on May 19, 2012. One face-to-face meeting is required at the Play-Based Early Learning Conference with Jeff Johnson on Saturday, April 21, 2012 (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) at Liberty Hall in Kimberly, Wisconsin. The remainder of the course requirements will be completed online via the course wiki. All course work must be completed and submitted to the course instructor, Sarah Lindh, no later than 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012.

  • Prerequisite: Must have graduated from a recognized high school; must have computer and Internet access to participate in the online wiki component of this course.
