Johnsrud , Laura

Laura has been a Reading Specialist for the past 32 years and continues in that capacity for the Sevastopol School District. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and her Master's Degree in Reading from U.W. La Crosse. She has extensive training in the Balanced Literacy model, teaching reading comprehension, and working with struggling readers and writers. She was the 1995 Wisconsin Teacher of the Year for Special Services, and a Kohl Fellowship winner. Laura teaches graduate courses in literacy, has presented workshops at the WSRA state convention and at numerous workshops for local reading councils around the area. Her first book, Word Family Mini-Storybooks, was published by Scholastic in 2001.
