| Award Instructions |

As a continuing student at UW-Green Bay, you may be familiar with the procedures of the Financial Aid Office and
the awarding process. If you’ve never applied for financial aid before or need to review your responsibilities,
this section will help you in determining what needs to be done to ensure that your financial aid will be ready
for you at the beginning of each term. You need to make sure you read all of the following information to complete
your requirements.
Once you receive notification from us that you have been awarded financial aid, follow the instructions on
the postcard or go to the Accept/Decline Your Award section below to navigate through the Student
Information System at UW-Green Bay. Students' financial aid award information is on-line and a paper Financial Aid Award
will not be mailed to students. If you need to receive a paper award notice for any reason, or you need to
explain or correct information please call 920-465-2075. The financial aid award tells you what financial
aid programs you are eligible for and how much you can receive from each program.
Review your award and note the following:
- An outside scholarship or financial assistance which is not listed on your award may affect your financial
aid package. This includes vocational rehabilitation support, scholarships from all sources (including
athletic), assistantships, veterans’ benefits and all other aid from outside sources. You need to notify the
Financial Aid Office of the source and amount of outside aid you are receiving every academic year. Failure
to notify the FAO about outside awards may result in total loss of aid from the University.
- We award assuming full time enrollment (at least 12 credits per semester as an undergraduate or 9 credits
as a graduate). Enrolling less than full time may result in a changed award.
- Aid offered to you by UW-Green Bay cannot be transferred to any other school and aid offered to you by
another school cannot be transferred to UW-Green Bay. If you transfer to UW-Green Bay at mid-semester you
must cancel your spring aid at your former school.
- If you do not enroll Semester I and you have received an award for the entire academic year, your
aid for Semester II will be cancelled. If you are planning on attending Semester II you must notify
the FAO once you are enrolled in courses.
- If you are in academic suspension status Semester I, your Semester II aid will be cancelled. You
must notify the FAO if the suspension status has changed.
- If you withdraw from semester I your semester II aid will be cancelled. You must contact the FAO
after you enroll for semester II.
Accept/Decline Your Award
- You must accept or decline all or part of any student loan or Work Study award. Go to www.uwgb.edu,
Current Students, Student Info System. Log on using your network username and password. Click on Finances,
Accept/Decline Financial Aid, select correct year. The awards you see are for the entire year and will be
split equally between semester 1 and semester 2. If you want to reduce a loan or work study award only
reduce in whole numbers, do not change an award to include cents. For example, you may change $1000 to $900
but not $899.99. Don’t forget to hit the submit button when you are done.
- If you have accepted any portion of a loan offered to you, you will need to navigate to the Loan
Completion Links found next to each award type.
- The Student Info System is also a good way to notify us of any outside
aid or to ask questions or correct any information in the Finances section
of Student Self Service. Go to www.uwgb.edu - Current Students -
Student Info System - Learner Services - Finances - Accept/ decline Financial Aid - Select correct Aid Year -
Administrative Services to contact us or call (920) 465-2075.
- You are required to accept or decline your student loans and/or
work study within three (3) weeks of the award date or the aid will
be cancelled.
A Note about Loans
Student loans have become an essential component students use to finance their educational expenses. Loans,
by definition and regulation, must be repaid and therefore should be used sparingly and wisely. If you accept
a loan you are responsible for repaying the loan plus interest. Remember that the more you borrow the higher
the monthly repayment will be, so only take as much loan money as you will need.
Special Circumstances
If you are denied aid or feel that your application should be reconsidered because of special circumstances or
events since you filed for aid, it is possible to appeal in writing. A Financial Aid Committee will review
your appeal and you will be notified of the result.
Additional Expense Request Form - If you or your family (if you’re a dependent student) has expenses that are
above and beyond what you feel are typical (medical, child care, etc).
Reduced Income Request Form - If one or several of your family members is expecting a reduction of income in
the current year due to extenuating circumstances (lay-off, change of jobs, reduced hours, etc.)
