SEOTY 2005
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay announced that Erica Heckendorf (pictured
on the right, to her left is Becky Wendt, Student Employment Coordinator, and
to her right is Chancellor Bruce Shepard) is the winner of the first annual Student
Employee of the Year award. The announcement was made at a punch and cake ceremony at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 13,
2005 in the Phoenix Rooms of the University Union.
Erica received an engraved clock and a certificate of commendation. Her department, The Institute for Learning,
received a plaque that will be displayed thru the following year. There is also a perpetual plaque that will hang
in the Financial Aid Office lobby, bearing Erica’s name as the 2005 Student Employee of the Year.
UW-Green Bay's celebration of Student Employee Appreciation Week also included:
- Free cake for student employees on Monday, served in the Financial Aid office.
- Free monster cookies for student employees on Tuesday, served in the Financial Aid office.
- E-mailed trivia quiz for student employees with a chance at daily drawn prizes.
- Jumbo cookies and balloon bouquets at the University Union's Corner Store for supervisors of student
employees, at a reduced price.
- Opportunity for supervisors to receive buy one/get one free coupons to take their student employees to
lunch on campus.
- Coupons for half off meals at the campus Pizza Hut for student employees.
- Free ice cream between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 for all student employees, with campus
"celebrities" doing the scooping.
Luncheons, celebrations, and other forms of recognition took place in individual departments during various times
of the week.
The first Student Employee of the year competition and celebration was a huge success. We are all anxiously looking
forward to making next years festivities bigger and better.
Daniel Hamrin from Marquette University has been named NSEA Student Employee of the Year. Although UW-Green Bay's
nominee, Erica Heckendorf, was not selected at state level, we are proud to acknowledge that it was the Wisconsin
winner that prevailed at the regional, and ultimately the National level.
