Loan Completion Requirements

If you are a continuing UW-Green Bay student and have borrowed previously from either the Stafford or the Perkins Loan Programs, you do not have to complete any additional requirements for that type of loan. If you are receiving a loan for the first time, the following information will help you determine what you need to do in order to complete your loan requirements for the Stafford, Perkins, or PLUS loan programs. Read the instructions carefully to make sure you complete your responsibilities in this process. For a more detailed description of each loan type (eligibility criteria, repayment, cancellation and deferment conditions) go to the Detailed Loan Information section.

STEP I. Entrance Counseling

If you are a first time borrower or a transfer student, you must complete Entrance Counseling before receiving your loans at UW-Green Bay. Whether you’re receiving the Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, or both, you only need to do Entrance Counseling once during your academic career at UW-Green Bay. The session will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. See STEP II to determine additional loan requirements.

STEP II. Master Promissory Note
    Stafford Master Promissory Note
If a Stafford Loan (Subsidized or Unsubsidized) is part of your award, and you are a first time borrower or a new student at UW-Green Bay, you'll need to complete a Master Promissory Note.

    Perkins Master Promissory Note
If you are receiving a Perkins Loan for the first time at UW-Green Bay, you'll need to complete a Perkins Entrance Interview and Master Promissory Note. If you received a Perkins Loan disbursement in 2004-05, you do not have to complete this requirement in order to receive your loan. Any Perkins Loan recipient prior to academic year 2004-05 (Spring 2004 or earlier) must repeat this step.
