Bill Niedzwiedz
Professor, Public and Environmental Affairs
In his distinguished teaching career at UW-Green Bay, Bill Niedzwiedz worked with students to develop numerous community-based projects with regional impact. Among them were campus accessibility maps for the Office of Disability Services, assessment of shoreline development, and mapping of bike trails in Northeast Wisconsin.
A signature project was creation of an enormous, geographically accurate map of Vietnam, an emotional focal point for Vietnam veterans and their families at the 2010 LZ Lambeau reunion in Green Bay.
Among the comments: "The map was a place of healing, a place to remember," and "It unlocked memories that had been held tight for 40 years, and more importantly, made it all right for those stories to be shared."
