Kay and Jim Nelson Annual Scholarship

Discipline: General

Student: New and Continuing

After graduating from UW-Green Bay in 1978, Dr. Kay Nelson earned a Master of Science degree in Business from Hampton University and a Doctorate in Management Information Systems from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a first generation college student in her family. Her professional experience is equally impressive - she has extensive international management experience with organizations such as Proctor & Gamble, Apple Computer and NATO. Her research has been with major companies including Boeing, Ford, IBM, and Cardinal Health. To add to these accolades, she was awarded the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2000 - one of the highest honors for a new faculty member. She is currently employed by Southern Illinois University Carbondale as a Full Professor of Management Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, and Management. Dr. Jim Nelson is also a faculty member in Management Information Systems at SIUC. Recognizing the high percentage of students at UW-Green Bay who are the first in their family to attend college, their scholarship is awarded to first-generation college students.
