Jay and Barbara Nick Family Endowed Scholarship

Discipline: General

Student: Freshman

Jay and Barb '83 Nick are very proud of UW-Green Bay and established this scholarship in 2013 to give back to Barbara's alma mater. As a student at UW-Green Bay in 1981, Barb was looking at job postings on a campus bulletin board and ultimately landed a job at Wisconsin Public Service (WPSC) as a technical writer. While working at WPSC, Barb continued taking classes at UWGB and worked as a writing skills lab assistant under Professor Don Larmouth. Barb credits Professor Larmouth with enhancing and developing her technical writing skills. During her thirty-plus year career, Barb progressed through the ranks at WPSC/Integrys, and as of 2013 held the position of President for Minnesota Energy Resources Corporation and Michigan Gas Utilities Corporation. Jay retired from WPSC/Integrys as Manager of Applied Technology. He is a graduate of UW-Madison '75 with a BS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Together they have a blended family of six children, all UW-Madison graduates. This scholarship endowment will pass along the opportunity for a quality education to students from Northeastern Wisconsin.
