Stammtisch

STAMMTISCH

Learning a language involves classroom work as well as practical application beyond formal instruction. In order to help facilitate student learning and practice, the German Club and the German Program have organized a Stammtisch to give students the opportunity to practice their oral communication skills as well as their listening comprehension in a relaxed and informal setting. There, students can participate in conversation at the level they feel most comfortable. The basic idea at Stammtisch is to Stammtisch Photo 1encourage students to speak and converse in the German Language in a comfortable environment. Students at all levels, from first semester to seniors majoring in the language, enjoy participating. It is also an excellent way to meet other people interested in the German language and the cultures of the German speaking world. Many of the exchange students at UW-Green Bay from Germany, Holland and Switzerland also attend Stammtisch and share their personal experience from both here and in their home countries.

Or, perhaps you just like listening to the glotteral roar of the German language being spoken? Maybe you would like to improve on your German slang (Das ist ja geil!), or even your Bavarian (I vaschde di niert!). . .
