Why should I donate to the University?
Each of us receives many requests for charitable support. The decision to make a gift certainly is a personal one. Your gift helps further the mission that we all work to fulfill each day. In addition, gifts from employees help demonstrate that those closest to the University believe in its mission and are willing to support it financially. Employee giving is an extremely important component of our case for support that we share with those outside of the University when asking for their gifts.
What is the Founders Association?
The Founders Association is a group of community leaders, University employees, alumni and friends who are financial supporters and advocates for the University. Their primary focus is to enhance the academic mission of the University through their generous financial donations. The Founders Association is the primary vehicle for distribution of gifts in the area of greatest need (unrestricted gifts) and gifts designated for a specific program or unit. Our planning and budgeting process, under the direction of the Chancellor and Provost, determines where unrestricted gifts are best utilized.
How was my gift used last year?
The Founders Association's annual fund includes the faculty and staff campaign, the alumni phone-a-thon, and the community appeal. All unrestricted gifts raised from these fund drives during 2007-08 were expended as follows:
- 50% for Scholarships
- 34% for use within University Departments
(ex., professional development funds, gallery exhibit support, speaker series, campus and community activities, publications, etc) - 16% for General Operations
(includes donor recognition, solicitation, and the Founders Academic Excellence Awards)
Designated gifts were used for the specified purposes, such as gifts to scholarship endowments, professorship endowments, etc.
What is the goal for the Faculty & Staff Campaign?
This year's goal is to raise more money than last year. Your gift, in any amount, demonstrates unity and support of the University's mission.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is tax deductible, as allowed by law.
May I designate my gift to a fund other than the Founders Association unrestricted fund?
Yes, you may designate your gift either to an immediate use unrestricted fund or to a specific endowment. Please refer to the online Faculty & Staff Giving Options sheet.
How will my gift to the Founders Association be recognized?
As a donor to the Founders Association, you will be recognized in the following ways:
- Annual Report Donor List
Your name will be listed under the respective gift club in the UW-Green Bay Annual Report. You may also choose to remain anonymous. - Founders Association fall event
You will be invited to the Founders Association fall event to learn about key University and academic initiatives. - Founders Association spring reception
You will be invited to the Founders Association spring reception to honor those who have provided gifts over the past year.
What payment options are available?
Both single payments and equal installment payment plans are available via the following options. Please indicate your personal preference on the pledge form.
- Personal Check
- Credit card payment - minimum gift of $50.00
- Payroll deduction - our most popular option.
The option to give from each payroll check, rather than in a lump sum, may provide a more attractive opportunity for you to make a gift and we encourage you to consider this option. Below are examples of how payroll deduction can work for you.
