Who Can Apply?

All admitted first year students are welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in serving first generation college students in the GPS program, students who are the first in their family to attend college.

Some students are automatically enrolled in the GPS program as a part of their admission. These students are notified at the time of their admission that they will be participating in GPS.

If you weren’t notified at the time of admission – don’t worry, you can still participate in GPS! You just need to complete the brief online application linked to this page, or in one of the emails you should have received about the program.

When Can I Apply?

Applications for 2017-18 will be accepted online beginning February 1, 2017 and will continue to be accepted until the program is full. To ensure full consideration, complete your application soon!

In your application, we will ask you to respond to the following question. We recommend that you complete this response ahead of time and then enter it into your application:

Please describe why you would like to participate in the GPS Program. What elements of the program will be helpful to you and why? What traits, experiences and perspectives will you contribute to the program?  (In 300-400 words)

Once you are ready, you can complete the online application here!

What Happens After I Apply?

We will begin notifying students of admission into the GPS program in late March. Upon admission, students will be asked to confirm their participation in GPS and will then be able to choose their GPS courses for the fall semester. GPS students will be enrolled early in their fall GPS courses (8 credits total), so you will have these courses in your schedule by the time you attend R&R in June.
