Who is eligible to apply?
All new first year students are welcome to apply. But due to the limited number of seats available, to be accepted into the GPS program students must demonstrate a need for the program activities and explain how the program would be useful to them in their application.
We are particularly interested in serving first generation college students in the GPS program, students who are the first in their family to attend college.
Students must be willing to complete the year-long GPS program (so both the fall and spring semesters) in order to be given full consideration.
Applications for 2016-17 will be accepted online beginning February 1st 2016, and will continue to be accepted until the program is full. To ensure full consideration, please complete your application soon!
We will begin notifying students of their acceptance into the Phoenix GPS program in late March. Upon acceptance, students will be given information about, and will be able to choose from, the available GPS First Year Seminar courses for the Fall 2016 semester. Students will also be placed into the Intro to Human Biology GPS course and the 1-credit GPS workshop section for the fall semester, for a total of 7 credits of coursework during the Fall semester.
In your application, we will ask you to respond to the following question in 200-300 words. We recommend that you complete this response ahead of time and then enter it into your application:
Please describe your need for the Phoenix GPS Program. What elements of the program would be particularly useful to you and why?
Once you are ready to apply, you can complete the online application here!
Seats are limited, and applications will only be accepted until the program is full. So complete your application soon if you’d like a spot in the 2016-17 GPS program!
