Some students are automatically enrolled in the GPS program as a part of their admission. These students are notified at the time of their admission that they will be participating in GPS.
For students who are not automatically enrolled, we encourage you to consider applying for participation in the GPS program.
Who Can Apply?
All admitted first year students are welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in serving first generation college students in the GPS program, students who are the first in their family to attend college.
Students must be able to participate in the GPS program for their entire first year (both the fall and spring semesters) in order to be given full consideration.
When Can I Apply?
Applications for 2016-17 will be accepted online beginning February 1, 2016 and will continue to be accepted until the program is full. To ensure full consideration, complete your application soon!
In your application, we will ask you to respond to the following question in 200-300 words. We recommend that you complete this response ahead of time and then enter it into your application:
Please describe why you would like to participate in the GPS Program. What elements of the program would be particularly useful to you and why?
Once you are ready, you can complete the online application here!
What Happens After I Apply?
We will begin notifying students of acceptance into the GPS program in late March. Upon acceptance, students will be able to choose one of the GPS First Year Seminar courses for the fall semester. Students will also be placed into the GPS section of Intro to Human Biology and the 1-credit GPS workshop, for a total of 7 credits of coursework during the fall semester.
