HLC Self-Study 2007

Organizational Structure for the Review

OVERVIEW

Self-Study Coordinator - Associate Provost for Academic Affairs

Timothy Sewall, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs has been appointed to coordinate the entire self-study process, serve as chair of the Steering Committee, and is responsible for the preparation of the Institutional Self-Study Report

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee includes the chairs/co-chairs of seven working groups formed to conduct the self-study.  The Coordinator of the upcoming NCAA Self-Study serves as an ex-officio member.  The Director of Institutional Research, Debra Furlong will provide staff support and also serves ex-officio.

Working Groups

The self-study process will be coordinated by the Steering Committee and carried out by seven working groups organized according to the major functional areas of the University.  The chair/co-chair of each working group has been selected on the basis of her/his expertise and familiarity with the institution.  Careful consideration needs to be given to the composition of each working group.  Each group should consist of approximately ten individuals who are very knowledgeable about a particular functional area and represent the University's various constituencies.  The seven Working Groups include:

  1. Assessment
  2. Curriculum/Academic Programs
  3. Organization and Governance
  4. Personnel/Professional Development
  5. Planning and Resource Allocation
  6. Relations to External Constituencies
  7. Student Services
In addition to the refinement of this organizational structure, the Steering Committee is responsible for formulating a brief charge for each Working Group and providing suggestions regarding which Core Components and accreditation criteria should be addressed by each group.
