Role of the Area Coordinator
The Area Coordinator team is comprised of five Area Coordinators and
the Assistant Director of Residence Life. Together they
supervise a team of 63 Resident Assistants. The Area Coordinator
position is a 12-month live-in position with responsibilities which
include staff selection and recruitment, training, and supervision;
oversight for community development and programming; student
advising and conflict resolution; on-call duty rotation and crisis
response; and summer program administration.

Professional Development Opportunities
Area Coordinators have a wide range of professional development
options available including participation in campus and departmental
committees, involvement in state, regional and national
associations, and a number of other on-campus professional
development activities. Conference attendance and
participation in professional committees and associations such as
UMR-ACUHO, WCPA, etc is encouraged and supported. In addition,
Area Coordinator staff have the opportunity to provide leadership at
a departmental level for processes such as staff selection, training
and orientation, summer conferences, and more.
Area Coordinator Apartments
Area Coordinator apartments are completely furnished, with cable and
internet service, washer, dryer, dishwasher, full-size refrigerator,
and range. Apartments vary in size from two-bedroom to three
bedrooms with spacious kitchens and living rooms. Reserved
parking is provided, but ACs are responsible for the cost.Spouses, domestic partners, and families are welcome.Only fish are allowed.

Selection Process for Actual Openings
Screening -
Once the initial screening date arrives, completed applications are
reviewed and an initial screening will take place.Those applicants meeting minimum requirements will be given
an opportunity to complete a phone interview or interview in person
at the Oshkosh Placement Exchange (March 3-4th in
Oshkosh, WI).
Phone interviews/OPE Meetings/interviews –
Candidates successfully meeting the requirements will be offered an
interview at OPE or via a conference call.One or more professionals and students will participate in
the interview.A second
interview may or may not be requested in order to gather more
information from the candidate.
On-Campus interviews - Selected
candidates will be offered an on-campus interview.On-campus interviews typically are scheduled for one evening
and the following day.
They may consist of the following:
Interviews
with student leaders, Residence Life staff, and Student Affairs
colleagues
Tours of the
residence halls and apartments, campus buildings and the Green Bay
community
We will attempt to
set up other individuals, groups or tour locations identified by the
candidate
Process for
Anticipated Openings
If no actual position is vacant, we will have an
“Anticipated opening” only.We cannot officially interview candidates.We will, however, collect resumes and offer phone screenings
and OPE screenings in preparation of the anticipated vacancy which
may occur later in the spring or summer.There will be no on-campus interviews until after an actual
vacancy happens and an official search process has been approved by
the institution.
