(for current residents of housing)
The Application Deadline Has Passed.
If you are still interested in housing for Fall 2009, you can apply
for the waiting list.
Applying for the waiting list: See step-by-step instructions
If you have already successfully re-applied for housing for
Fall of 2009, the following information applies:
Advance Deposit:
If you are currently residing on campus, no additional deposit is
needed.
Your current $225 advance deposit (minus a $25 application fee) will
be used to secure housing for next year.
Please know that your deposit is nonrefundable if you
apply for housing now and then later cancel your Housing
Application or fail to sign and return a Housing Contract.New-to-Housing Roommate
Preference: A returning student can request to live with a
new-to-housing student but they must contact Dawn at the Residence
Life Community Center between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday thru
Friday, prior to Monday, February 23. Roommate preference may be
honored if the new-to-campus student currently has a contract for
the upcoming year and emails Dawn at
abernatd@uwgb.edu with
his or her roommate preference.
Assistance and Questions: If you are unable to apply on-line or require assistance, please visit the Office
of Residence Life (465-2040) during regular business hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday).
Failure to do so may prevent you from securing a Housing Contract.
In the event that student demand for Housing Applications exceeds available housing space, a random selection
process will be implemented for the provision of Housing Contracts.
Contract for Your Room or Apartment Assignment
Housing Contracts: Housing Contracts will be
distributed in campus mailboxes by Wednesday, March 4,
2009, and will include your room assignment priority number and your room assignment date/time.
Room Assignment Date and Time: Room
assignments will occur in the University Union Phoenix
Rooms on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, March
10, 11 and 12.
Room Assignment Priority Number: Your Housing Contract will provide the date and approximate time you will be permitted
to come to the Union to indicate your preference for a particular room or apartment. Your priority number reflects
the order in which you will be served which is determined by: a) number of semesters in
housing, b) credit hours earned, and c) a random number system to manage workflow and minimize long lines
and waiting.
For your convenience you may check the Residence
Life home page on your room assignment day (March 10, 11, or 12) to find out what priority number is currently
being served.
Building and Room Preferences: During your assignment time, you will be given the opportunity to indicate
your preference for type of housing. Types of housing include: a)
11 residence halls, b) 9 apartment buildings
(3312 - 3334), and c) 5 apartment-style residence halls (Harden, Robishaw, Thompson, Liebl, and Haevers halls).
Apartment vs. residence hall preferences are usually honored; however, due to space limitations it may not
always be possible to honor the type of apartment preferred (apartment building vs. apartment-style residence
hall). Size of the freshman-class may also limit available space on a first-come/first-served basis.
Housing Options: A chart summarizing additional information regarding the various types of housing
accommodations offered is provided
here. Please note which facilities are open
during the semester break and summer months if you plan to live on campus at these times.
Special Housing
Accommodations: Students
who have disabilities requiring special housing accommodations,
or family members with disabilities requiring special
access considerations, should also
contact both the Office of Residence Life and the Office of
Disability Services on campus.
Room/Roommate Preference:
When
requesting your room/apartment preference, you and your
preferred roommates must bring everyone’s Housing Contract.
Roommate preference may be honored with new-to-campus students if
prior arrangements have been made with Dawn in the Residence Life
Community Center. For your convenience, only one person in a group
of roommates needs to bring the groups' Housing Contracts
when requesting your room preference. However, if your
room preference is unavailable at the time of room signup, it's
important for you to know your roommates' alternate room preferences
or have them present for discussion and decision making purposes.
If you have extenuating circumstances
preventing you from participating in the room assignment process on
March 10 through March 12, you must contact the Office of Residence
Life during the hours of 8:00
AM to 4:30 PM on Monday through Friday -- at least 24 hours prior to
your assigned date/time. Returning students who miss the
room/apartment assignment deadline identified above, and fail to
make alternate arrangements to accommodate their extenuating
circumstances, may have their housing applications cancelled or be
placed on a waitlist and not assigned a housing accommodation
preference until after all returning students have had an
opportunity to do so.
Please know that once you sign and submit your Housing Contract, you are legally bound to fulfilling all of
the terms and conditions of the Housing
Contract (PDF). This
also means you are financially responsible for payment in full, just
as you would be if signing a lease off campus.
Step 3: Confirmation of Your Housing Assignment
You will receive confirmation of
your room assignment via e-mail after you sign up for your room on
March 10, 11, or 12. It is recommended you save
this correspondence.
If you change your mind regarding your room or apartment preference
after the room assignment process described in Step 2 has been
completed, you may request an assignment change through the Office
of Residence Life during the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Tuesday March
24 through Thursday March 26, 2009.
In July you will receive a letter containing your room or apartment
assignment, and the names of roommates living in your room or
apartment.
