There are nine traditional apartment buildings, which offer living
options in four-person/two bedroom apartments, one-person efficiency
apartments, and two-person/one-bedroom apartments. In addition,
there are three more recently built new apartment complexes, which
offer 2 student/2 bedroom, 3 student/3 bedroom, 4 student/4 bedroom,
and 5 student/5 bedroom apartments. All apartments are non-smoking.
The majority of students living in the on-campus apartments are upperclassmen.
It is typical for students to move to the apartments after about two years
of living in the residence halls because it gives them a little more independence.
Students in the apartments are not required to buy into a meal plan and are
able to cook their own meals.
Because the students in the apartments are mostly upperclassmen preparing
to graduate, they have special needs that Residence Life tries to address.
A lot of the programming in the apartments focuses on providing life skills
that will be useful later on. Everything in the set up of the apartments
is designed to prepare students for when they will be living on their own.
The apartments were purchased in 1980. They were the first housing on the
UW-Green Bay campus. Most apartments have 2 bedrooms and are intended for
four students. There are a limited number of one-bedroom units and efficiencies.
Apartments have compact kitchens with stoves, sinks, disposals, refrigerators,
cupboards, table and chairs. Each bedroom has single beds, dressers, desks,
and chairs. There is a double closet. Bathrooms have showers and double sinks.
Drapes and carpeting are provided.
