Educational Resources
— Recycling &
energy conservation
Recycling
Recycling is required in University housing. Each area of campus is equipped
with recycling containers. Please assist with improving our environment and
complying with state law by doing your part to recycle. Please see instructions
for proper recycling. You will receive City of Green Bay recycling information
in your rooms/apartments when you arrive. For more information regarding
recycling, visit the Brown
County Recycling Services Web site.
Energy and Water Conservation
The Office of Residence Life and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay are
committed to minimizing the use of our earthÍs resources to prevent future
depletion of our natural gas, coal and water. Students residing on campus
at UW-Green Bay can help in our efforts toward reducing the amount
of natural resources we use.
The energy and water costs to serve the students residing in our 26 residential
buildings are enormous. This yearÍs expenditures will exceed $400,000. This
equates to over $200 per resident per year. If we can reduce our energy and
water dependence we can also prevent unnecessary increases in the costs associated
with living on campus.
How can your student help?
Turn off his/her lights when leaving an unattended room or going out.
Shut off his/her computer, TV, and other appliances when not in use.
Reduce his/her time in the shower.
Turn off his/her bathroom exhaust fan when not using the shower.
Keep all windows closed tightly when the heat or air conditioning is on.
If his/her room is too hot, close the heat damper or controls.
These six easy steps will help in our conservation efforts and reduce your student's
costs to live on campus. Please call our Residence Life Facilities Operations
Office at 465- 2483 for more information.
