Green Bay Area Community

Green Bay is Wisconsin’s third largest city. It is one of the state’s fastest growing areas, ranks first in job growth, and has a metropolitan population of nearly 250,000. Top employers include manufacturing (particularly paper products, equipment for the paper industry, metal fabricating, and food products), services (particularly health care and insurance), transportation, tourism, and retailing. Green Bay hosts a foreign seaport. The area is home to five of the 50 largest privately held companies in the United States, and no other American community of its size has as many Forbes 500 firms. Green Bay is also home to the Green Bay Packers, an NFL team and three-time Super Bowl champions.

The area boasts a well-maintained park system, good public library system, public museums, wildlife sanctuary within the city, zoo, state historic park, and botanical garden. Numerous performing arts resources include the Weidner Center at UW- Green Bay, a nationally-recognized major performance venue. Green Bay and nearby communities have excellent schools. Green Bay is also the gateway to two areas of the state known for their natural beauty: The Door County peninsula and the “northwoods” country.
