Essential Job Functions:

The mission of the Professional Program in Nursing is to provide high quality, student-centered nursing education that builds on prior experience, knowledge, and skills of registered nurses. Students are prepared to think critically and address complex health issues in a multicultural and evolving world. The program helps meet the needs of the nursing profession and of society to improve health and healthcare delivery.

Due to growth in the department, the Professional Program in Nursing at UW-Green Bay seeks applicants for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Nursing. Candidates with experience in nursing leadership, management, and informatics are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with proficiency with educational technologies needed for online teaching are also strongly encouraged to apply.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Teach a course load of 21 credits per academic year of undergraduate and graduate level nursing courses delivered face-to-face and online in the BSN, MSN, HIMT (Health Information Management and Technology) and/or other health-related programs.
  • Advise students.
  • Contribute to ongoing programmatic development.
  • Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
  • Contribute service to the profession, community, institution, and unit.

In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing at time of application.
  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing (Ph.D., DNP, or other) or related field. The degree must be completed no later than May 24, 2015. Will consider ABD candidates who can demonstrate the ability to meet the requirement above.
  • Current RN licensure in Wisconsin, or the ability to be licensed in Wisconsin.
Starting Date: August 25, 2014
Conditions of Appointment:

Position is an academic year tenure-track appointment.  Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years although tenure decisions may be at any time.  Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure.  Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity and institutional service required for retention and promotion. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Special Conditions of Appointment: An on-campus presence is required for this position. Teaching evening courses and occasional travel may be necessary.
