Essential Job Functions:


Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost serves as the chief executive officer for continuing education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.  The Associate Provost is responsible for the following:

  • providing leadership for a $5 million budget, 22 permanent employees and hundreds of faculty, adjunct instructors, community presenters and state and national speakers each year;
  • building bridges that extend the resources of UWGB outside the boundaries of the university;
  • connecting faculty to the community;
  • bringing community resources to the institution, and creating partnerships that make a difference in the lives of the people of the region and state;
  • working closely with the Division’s Program Leaders to design and deliver successful and solvent lifelong learning programs that incorporate traditional and nontraditional delivery methods including distance education and on-line learning technologies;
  • encouraging a Divisional entrepreneurial environment;
  • fostering collaborations with faculty, area agencies, organizations and educational institutions, including Wisconsin’s technical colleges and UW Colleges, to carry out programs and services that are aligned with campus goals and infused with faculty expertise;
  • offering expertise to the campus about adult friendly policies and practices, and adult learning theory and research;
  • serving as a member of the statewide Continuing Education Extension Council (CEEC); and,
  • serving as UWGB’s institutional representative to UW-Extension.

The Division of Outreach and Adult Access works within the context of UWGB’s Select Mission to serve as “an intellectual, cultural and economic resource” to the community in conjunction with “The Wisconsin Idea – the boundaries of the University are the boundaries of the state.” The Division is organized into three clusters:  Adult Degree Programs, Small Business Development Center, and Outreach and Extension.  For more information see www.uwgb.edu/oaasearch.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Earned doctorate in adult education or related field
  • Five years experience in continuing and adult education including progressively increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and practice
  • Experience in fiscal management and comfort with a revenue generating environment
  • Strong managerial and communication skills
Starting Date: January 2010 or soon thereafter
Conditions of Appointment: Position is a full time appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s).
