Employee Recognition Festivities

Campus Cookout:
UW-Green Bay faculty and staff look forward to spring for several reasons, one of which is our cookout on the University Union plaza. At this time recent retirees are introduced, and all faculty and staff are thanked for their years of service. A delicious offering of Green Bay's picnic favorites, cake, and beverages is free and open to all faculty and staff.

Ice Cream Social:
Enjoy ice cream, chat with your colleagues, meet new friends, and celebrate the last few days of summer at the Chancellor’s ice cream social.

In addition to this free event, ice cream specials are available weekly throughout the summer at the University Union for a nominal fee.

Mid-Year Convocation:
Mid-Year Convocation is a campus gathering to kick off the spring semester and celebrate significant anniversaries of UW-Green Bay faculty and staff. This annual event is held in January and kicks off the spring semester. The Mid-Year Convocation begins with a complimentary breakfast, and concludes with a ceremony recognizing faculty and staff members who receive years of service awards. All UWGB faculty and staff members are invited to attend.

Enjoy the convenience of many useful services and facilities available on the campus grounds

The Kress Events Center is the headquarters for workouts, weight training, intramural sports and more. The facility features an athletics training room, two weight rooms, a cardio deck, an Olympic-sized pool, racquetball courts, a climbing tower, outdoor playing fields, and a multipurpose gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and indoor tennis. Miles of hiking, biking, or rollerblading are right here! Memberships are available for employees and their families at a discounted rate.

Shorewood Golf Course, pro-shop, and restaurant opens around April 1 and closes mid-October. Golf clubs, pull carts, and electric carts are available on a rental basis. Season memberships are available at a discounted rate for faculty and staff. Professional instruction is available by the Golf Pro. A junior program including lessons and a 54-hole tournament is offered during the summer, and staff and faculty of UW-Green Bay can take part in a nine-hole weekday golf league.

The Cofrin Arboretum forms a natural boundary of 290 acres encircling the campus and provides ready access for field trips and research projects. Several miles of trails are used frequently by joggers, skiers, bird watchers, and people out for casual walks in all seasons of the year.

Communiversity Park is located across from the campus and is opened from April to October. Hours are daily from 10am to dusk.

University Look Out Tower is open from March to December, weather permitting. Hours are dawn to dusk, daily, and admission is free!

The University Theatre provides live student and guest performances at an inexpensive rate. The facility offers a 450 seat proscenium theatre where most mainstage productions are produced, as well as music events, recitals, Opera Workshops, and Danceworks recitals. Auditions are open to students, community members, and alumni. For tickets call 465-2217 or 1-800-328-TKTS. Twenty five percent of ticket sales from Theatre performances are used for theater scholarships and are tax deductible.

The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts offers the best in cultural and educational entertainment to the people of Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Visit their website for current schedule and ticketing information.

The University of Wisconsin Credit Union is a cooperative open to anyone involved with the University. The Credit Union offers all of the services of a commercial bank, with the convenience of being located right here on campus.

The Phoenix Bookstore, located on the Plaza Level of the Cofrin Library, is your home for UWGB and Fighting Phoenix merchandise. In addition, the bookstore offers film processing, greeting cards, snacks, and a variety of office supplies.

Media Services offers a full range of support to faculty, staff, and students, including classroom instructional technology support, audio/video production, satellite and video-conferencing, distance education, and media service support. Media Services also has an extensive library of films and videotapes for classroom use.

Library Services
As a UW-Green Bay employee you have full access to the Cofrin Library and all of its services. You will need your University photo ID card to check out library materials. The Cofrin Library website contains a schedule of hours, policies, and a complete list of all services available to you. In addition, you can search the online database from your desktop.

University Dining Services offer a wide variety of products and services to members of the campus community, as well as visitors to the University. From presentation cooking to grab-n-go type options, dining has something to satisfy every appetite.
