| Essential Job Functions: | Will teach introductory and upper-level courses in Anthropology and interdisciplinary courses in Social Change and Development. Will perform scholarly activities consistent with rank, advise students, perform institutional service, and contribute to the ongoing development of the department. |
| Qualifications: | Required: Doctorate in Anthropology from an accredited institution by the beginning of the appointment, fall 2009. The successful candidate must have higher education teaching experience, demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate education, and communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse arrange of students and colleagues. Preferred: A preference will be given to candidates who have a specialization in health issues broadly conceived with expertise in medical, political, or environmental anthropology and who have a regional specialization in the global south and/or migration issues. Ability to teach a course in social research methods is desirable. |
| Starting Date: | August 24, 2009 |
| Conditions of Appointment: | Position is a full-time academic year appointment. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in a state retirement plan. Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years although tenure decisions may be at any time. Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure. Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity and institutional service required for retention and promotion. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).
