Essential Job Functions:

The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay seeks a candidate for either an Assistant Professor or Lecturer position based on qualifications and experience.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:
Full-time teaching load is 21 credits per year of both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in Computer Science with possible contributions to a program in Information Science (courses depend on candidate's qualifications). The successful candidate will also be a vital member of a small department, contribute to ongoing curriculum expansion, advise undergraduate students, help supervise internships, work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a program of scholarly activities and to contribute to the service expectations of the university. In addition, this position will be expected to display demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

LECTURER:
Full-time teaching load is 27 credits per year of courses in undergraduate computer science and information science. The successful candidate will teach both introductory courses and some upper-level courses and be responsible for coordination of software and hardware infrastructure. Involvement in advising and program development is possible.  This position will be expected to display demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, commitment to undergraduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications :

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:

  • Earned doctorate in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution. The degree must be completed no later than May 25, 2014. Will consider ABD candidates who can demonstrate the ability to meet the requirement above.

LECTURER:

  • Bachelor's Degree or its functional equivalent.
  • Substantial further education or work experience in an area related to software or database design and development.
Starting Date: August 26, 2013
Conditions of Appointment:

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:
Position is an academic year tenure-track appointment.  Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years although tenure decisions may be at any time.  Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure.  Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity and institutional service required for retention and promotion. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s).  A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).  In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the university does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record. 

LECTURER:
Position is a full-time academic staff appointment.
