Essential Job Functions:

The department of Natural and Applied Sciences at UW-Green Bay seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Biology. Candidates with expertise in molecular or bioinformatics approaches to microbial ecology are strongly encouraged to apply.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Teach a course load of 21 credits per academic year.
    • Primary responsibilities will be introductory and upper-level courses in Environmental Science and Biology, including a core course in microbiology with an environmental emphasis and an upper level course focused on microorganisms (mycology, phycology, protozoology, etc.) for Environmental Science or Biology Majors.
    • Other course assignments may include general education courses, required upper-level courses in Biology (genetics or cell biology), or graduate courses in the Environmental Science and Policy M.S. program.
  • Participate in the Master's level graduate program in Environmental Science and Policy.
  • Develop a strong research program involving collaboration with students, faculty, and individuals outside the University.
  • Advise students.
  • Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
  • Perform institutional service and contribute to the ongoing programmatic development within the department of Natural and Applied Sciences (an interdisciplinary department).

The successful candidate will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship and a commitment to undergraduate education. Additionally, they should possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field from an accredited institution. The degree must be completed no later than May 24, 2015. Will consider ABD candidates who can demonstrate the ability to meet the requirement above.

Conditions of Appointment:

Position is an academic year tenure-track appointment.  Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years although tenure decisions may be at any time.  Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure.  Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity and institutional service required for retention and promotion. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).
