It is critical that you complete all required documentation such as I-9 and W-4 tax withholding certificate as soon as you begin employment to ensure timely payment of your first check.

UW-Green Bay distributes pay through direct deposit which electronically deposits pay to the financial institution of your choosing.

We are required by federal law to verify that all employees are entitled to work in the U.S., and your employment is contingent upon verification of your work eligibility within 3 days after beginning employment.

Direct Deposit

UW-Green Bay uses ACH (Automated Clearing House), or direct deposit, to pay employees. This sevice, which is mandatory, electronically deposits your pay to the financial institution and account of your choice and is available to you on payday. To enroll, download the Direct Deposit Authorization Form and send the completed form to the Payroll Office, ES 107.

Students are not required to have federal work study earnings direct deposited; however, it is the most efficient, convenient, and secure way for you to receive your pay.

Earnings Statement

UW-Green Bay distributes paycheck earnings statements electronically. Through a secure file transfer protocol, your earnings statement record is created in an Outlook email message addressed to you. The day before payday, just log in to the UW-Green Bay network, access your email account, and pull up the message addressed to you from the Payroll Office. You may also access your email when away from campus using Web Outlook. We suggest you print the message and then delete it rather than filing it electronically.

The Outlook Introduction guide is available to assist with printing your earnings statement. In addition you can register for an Outlook email class. Questions about logging on to the network can be directed to the computer Help Desk at 465-2309.

Payroll Deductions

All faculty and staff are subject to federal and state income tax withholding. In addition, all employees have social security tax withheld. Student Payroll Deductions.

Some employees have union dues deducted from their checks, such as those represented by the:

  • Wisconsin State Employees Union (WSEU) (blue collar, administrative support, technical, law enforcement, and security)
  • Wisconsin Professional Employees Council (WPEC) (information systems professionals, accountants, and auditors)
  • Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC)
  • Building Trades (BT)

Optional Deductions

  • Credit Union (See Credit Union representative on Plaza Level in Cofrin Library, ext. 2345).

  • Savings bonds (See Jean Dickinson, Payroll).

  • Tax-Sheltered Annuities (TSAs) and Deferred Compensation, or supplemental retirement plan amounts, are deducted from your paycheck before tax withholding is applied. For more information on these programs, see our Benefits page. You can download a Salary Reduction Agreement to enroll in or change the amount that is deposited into your supplemental retirement account.

  • At the beginning of the school year, staff can sign up for paycheck deduction whereby a pre-determined amount is deducted directly from your check to pay for parking and membership at the Kress Events Center. Parking permits paid through payroll deduction are deducted as pre tax amounts.

    (Administrative directors, instructors, executives, limited appointees, and academic staff professionals, faculty, ad hocs (instructors), lecturers, and coaches)

  • Classified Staff
    (Technical professionals, office support, laboratory technicians, custodians, police officers, accountants, LTE’s (Limited Term Employees) and most mid-level supervisors)
