Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Human Biology Department Chair and is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the Dietetic Internship (DI) Program. The DI Director leads the assessment, planning, and evaluation of the program to meet the requirements set by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The successful candidate will also teach one course per academic year for the Human Biology Department. This position is an academic year position, working mid-August through mid-May. This position also include one month of summer work associated with program coordination duties. 

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure successful and effective delivery of the DI Program.
  • Maintain up-to-date compliance with ACEND standards.
  • Oversee development and implementation of five-year and annual management plans.
  • Coordinate and participate in outreach activities to recruit potential interns, including open houses, program information sessions, and correspondence with students.
  • Mentor and counsel interns, giving them instruction, guidance, and materials needed for taking the Registered Dietitian (RD) exam.
  • Evaluate and select interns, evaluating transcripts, performance in undergraduate coursework, and outside nutrition experience.
  • Evaluate prior assessed learning credits granted to interns and undergraduate students.
  • Provide field supervision of education, portfolios, and initial, midyear, and year-end evaluations.
  • Maintain all intern and program records required at the departmental, institutional, and professional level.
  • Maintain all credentialing paperwork, verify graduation dates, issue official DI Verification Statements, and certify credentialing paperwork.
  • Direct grievances and complaints to the appropriate person/department.
  • Coordinate curriculum development and maintenance.
  • Serve as a liaison with ACEND, and coordinate onsite accreditation visits.
  • Arrange for current and updated program memorandums and affiliation agreements with various site facilities through communications with UW-Green Bay safety and risk manager and the education coordinators for healthcare institutions.
  • Coordinate and schedule practice sites, oversee and manage DI Coordinators and Supervisors, and submit annual budgets and program fees.
  • Implement DI goals, ensure outcomes assessment measurements are utilized, and direct evaluation outcomes to make required changes.
  • Conduct alumni surveys, track intern progress, and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Provide feedback and evaluation to preceptors at all practice sites, as well as required coursework.
  • Assess new practice sites and experiences to meet goals.
  • Chair the DI steering committee, be an active member of the American Dietetic Association, and attend other relevant meetings and workshops to update knowledge related to the DI.
  • Develop, plan, and implement all dietetic online and face-to-face classes to meet ACEND's core knowledge and competencies.
  • Teach one academic course in the undergraduate program each academic year.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree at time of application
  • Three years of experience as a Registered Dietitian
  • Membership in the American Dietetic Association
  • Certified Dietitian in the state of Wisconsin
  • Previous dietitian practical experience
  • Knowledge of dietetics education and adult education principles


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • DI Program preceptor or administrator experience
  • Five years of experience as a Registered Dietitian
  • Experience working in a higher education environment

Conditions of Appointment

Position is a 9-month, full-time Academic Staff appointment working during the academic year. This position also include one month of summer work associated with program coordination duties. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary

Salary range of $55,000-$61,714
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
